Oh my goodness guys… both of my babies are napping at the same time right now!! This NEVER happens… I’m going to hurry and write this blog post because knowing my luck, one is just seconds away from waking up!
While pregnant, there are so many sweet things you get excited about. You think about how its going to be to rock that sweet baby to sleep, to kiss those soft cheeks, and how easy it will be to take a nap while the baby naps. Then that little baby comes crying into the world and reality hits! It’s hard. It’s hard being a new mom. It’s hard finding time to sleep let alone brush your teeth! Sometimes babies just can’t be appeased and they cry a lot. But what’s so great about all these hard things, is that those moments are still so beautiful! Luke wasn’t having the best day when I came over to his home in Decatur for his newborn shoot. He just couldn’t quite get comfortable and much preferred cuddles with mom and dad over me taking his picture. Luckily Megan and Daniel were champs and did a great job of letting me just capture them doing life with their little man!
Oh, and let me tell you hard it was to pick favorites for this blog post. Luke’s nursery was like something you would see in a magazine. You could tell that many hours of planning and designing were put into making this the perfect place to bring home their baby boy. I love how Megan described her thinking behind getting the nursery ready. She said, “I didn’t want the nursery to really have a set theme but if I had to describe the vibe of the room, I would say it is “modern vintage”. Not sure that even makes sense but I just liked the idea of tying in old & new pieces. We are so pleased with how it turned out and enjoy just hanging out in there when we can.” It truly was a comforting place to be!
Well, I guess it’s time for you to enjoy this precious session. And don’t forget to check out the end of the blog to see where Megan got all the goodies for Luke’s nursery!
If you are en expecting mom and are thinking about starting the huge feet of designing your nursery, here is some great advice from Megan: “Don’t let anyone tell you it’s too soon to start working on the nursery. Some people thought I was getting ahead of myself but it was something I really enjoyed and it kept my mind off the slow passing of time. I also felt extremely prepared when Luke arrived. I also think it’s great to find another craft to occupy your time. I took up sewing this past year and ended the year with making a quilt for Luke before he arrived! “
Here is the quilt that Megan made for Luke. Isn’t it the cutest thing you’ve ever seen! These quilts sell for up to $200 on Etsy and are so trendy. I love the geometric shapes and the blue color palette. Nursery Paint Color- Benjamin Moore Rever Pewter
