I love it when a wedding day is laid back and calm. Katie and David got married on a Friday evening. Everything seemed to flow so easily, and at times we were even ahead of schedule (that never happens on a wedding day!). The traditional wedding ceremony at Monroe 1st United Methodist Church was sacred and heart warming. There were even a few laughs like when Katie accidentally tried to put David’s wedding ring on the wrong hand! Then Katie and David threw a huge party at The Engine Room. There was plenty of dancing and having fun in the photo booth, which the bride and groom chose to have in place of a guest book. Guests wrote their messages on chalkboards for pictures to be printed for the happy couple. It was such a fun day!
So how did the bride and groom meet? Here is their love story, straight from the bride: “We met years ago in the Georgia College softball press box, when I was a graduate assistant for the Bobcat athletic department and David was working for North Georgia. Three years later, David reached out to me via Facebook about my former co-worker’s job in the USC Upstate athletic department. We shared a cubicle wall together in the Upstate media relations office for the 2012-13 season and quickly became best friends. David got a job at Mercer University in July of 2013 and we soon began dating after he moved to Macon. In August of 2013, I accepted a job at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Despite the distance, the fun, lighthearted friendship grew into a serious relationship. David’s career success continued and he accepted a position at the University Arkansas in March of 2014. Not wanting to do the long-distance thing any longer, we got engaged March 19 and decided to get married this summer so we planned a wedding in four months! Now we live in Razorback country… Woo Pig Sooie!”
There were so many wonderful vendors that helped to make Katie and David’s wedding day perfect, including friends and family that helped the day run smoothly! Check out the Vendors from the day and give them some love on their websites and Facebook! And also a special thanks to Greta of From the Hip for 2nd shooting. She is always a blast to work with!

Being a very classical bride, Katie chose to include the wedding tradition of something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue into her wedding day. Her “something old” was her mother’s veil, which was long and covered in lace, absolutely beautiful!. Her “something new” was a diamond bracelet which was a wedding gift from David and a pearl necklace which was a gift from her parents. Katie’s “something borrowed” was her mother-in-laws pearls that were incorporated into her bouquet. And last, her “something blue” were her adorable shoes!
I love that moment right after the ceremony when it hits the bride and groom, “Oh my gosh, we are officially married!”
I’ll give you 3 words to describe the delicious catering: Mashed Potato Bar! So GOOD!
