This year for our Fall Mini Sessions we did things a little differently. We had families donate new toys for the Angel Tree Ministry. Angel Tree is is a ministry that provides Christmas toys for children that otherwise would not have any. This year our church, Conyers 1st United Methodist Church, teamed up with JH House Elementary School to give needy kids toys for Christmas.
The Mini Session families went above and beyond, many donating more than one gift! We were able to sponsor a lot of kids with all the gifts that we got! Hunter and I decided that we wanted to not only take part in collecting gifts this year, but also help deliver! We showed up at the church early one Saturday morning all decked out in our Santa hats! Lots of other families were there to help deliver too!
Hunter loaded up the back of our car and we were off to deliver!
At the first house we went to, the mother was so grateful that she invited us in! We sat and chatted, and the kids introduced us to their puppies! The next house we went to ended up being some old friends of ours. It is so great to see people that you can just pick up with so easily, even if it has been years since you last saw each other!
We were lucky enough to be able to deliver presents with Santa! He joined us in bringing some joy to the kids!
Santa’s Helpers!
Henry loved helping deliver the gifts!
A lot of the families that we delivered to spoke Spanish. Though I minored in Spanish in college, it is a little rusty these days. My sister Meredith is fluent and she translated. It made things a lot easier having her there. She has one of the biggest hearts of anyone that I know! Our preacher, Dr. John Beyers, also joined us on our delivery. He enjoyed seeing the families receive their gifts! This family was so appreciative that they gave us gifts to thank us. Almost in tears, the mother thanked us for the gifts, because she said otherwise her kids would not be getting anything for Christmas because her husband had lost his job.
Thank you to everyone who donated gifts this year. You have helped to bring joy and the love of Christ to lots of little kids! Merry Christmas!
