Just the other week I had the pleasure of photographing my very first water birth at the Atlanta Medical Center. This is the first time that I have ever seen a birth. I mean, I was present at my son’s birth this past February, but I don’t really remember much… except that it was exhausting. Britni contacted me about photographing her birth. This is not her first child, but her husband is in the armed forces, so he was not able to be there for the birth of their other daughter. She wanted someone there to capture this special time for their family, since her husband would be able to be there this time. I informed her that I had never photographed a birth before, but that I would LOVE to do it. Talk about an awesome “mommy-to-be”! She was totally cool having a newbie come and photograph one of the most important moments of her life, I was honored!
Well, Britni’s due date came and went. I was getting a little nervous, expecting a phone call at any moment. Babies come when they are good and ready, so I couldn’t exactly plan for when it was going to happen. Finally, late one Sunday night I got the call! She was already at the hospital and was progressing. I raced to Atlanta, and within 30 minutes of me getting there, little Rowen Kate was born! It was such an amazing experience! Britni was AWESOME! I teared up as that little girl came into the world. What an intimate and miraculous moment to experience! Thank you Britni and William for letting me peak in on your little miracle! Alrighty, now for the pictures!
